Utrecht University

Utrecht University is firmly founded on tradition. The University, which recently celebrated its 365th anniversary, has developed into one of Europe's largest and most prominent institutes of research and education. With 14 faculties, and 70 degree courses, which are attended by more than 20.000 students, Utrecht University offers a wider range of subjects than any other university in the Netherlands. In the organisation of the university's teaching and research, quality is the key. Utrecht University is linked to the names of many prominent academics among whom Buys Ballot, Donders, Rudolf Magnus, Van Unnik and Freudenthal. The list also includes Nobel Prize Winners such as Gerard 't Hooft from the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy. The University's facilities are located on three separate sites: the university quarter in the city centre, the University campus De Uithof, located to the east of the city, and the University College Campus.
