Managing metadata for Geographic Information
It is clear that metadata needs to fulfil many requirements. Not only is metadata used to discover a dataset, but it also needs to be able to assist in assessing a dataset as well as to help to manage the dataset. Furthermore, these requirements should be coupled with the differing perspectives of the users, managers and creators of the metadata. With these variables in mind, it becomes clear that metadata for geo-data is a complex entity. The task of the conscientious metadata producer is therefore a difficult one.
This study investigated the reasons why organisations fail to document their geo-information with metadata in a consistent and appropriate manner and propose approaches to overcome these barriers and to investigate the feasibility of these methods.

Development of a method to identify critical factors for success of
National Spatial Data Infrastructures (NSDIs)of developing countries
Countries are unique in historical, legal, economic, technological, cultural and institutional terms. Gained benefits and expected bottlenecks for implementation of NSDIs are likely to be different as well, so the best strategies for implementing NSDIs could be different. Consequently, critical factors for success should be determined to support these strategies. This MSc research develop a method to identify common, measurable indicators for success applicable to NSDIs applied to developing countries, which may assist in their enhancement and innovation in a more strategic and operational way. Three different countries (Colombia, Nepal and Ghana) from three different continents (South - America, Asia and Africa) support this research.
